LINCOLN PTA MINUTES
October 2, 2007
Meeting called to order
Pledge of Allegiance
Roll Call of Officers--Treasurer Tim Ewert tardy
Vice President Sherri Fansler Report
- We currently have 69 Pd. members. Membership recruitment flyers will be sent
home soon.
Secretary Judy McDonough Report
- Minutes for September meeting not back from the printer so were unavailable for
approval. Will be reviewed and approved at next month’s meeting.
Treasurer Tim Ewert Report
- Income and expenditures through August 31st were reviewed and balances in all
accounts listed.
- Tim recommended that we move the money from our Money Market account in to an cd
account with a better rate of return. The Money Market currently gives us .75%.
An 8-month cd offering at the credit union in which we have our accounts would
give us a 4.6% return. Tim made a motion to move the money to the cd.. Sandy
Charlton seconded the motion. The motion was passed unanimously and the funds
will be transferred.
- A deposit was put down to retain “Kids are People Too” program for Family Fun
Night in April.
Box Tops/Soup Labels--Joni Vella
- Between what’s leftover to be sent in from last year and what’s been collected
this year, there is currently $880 worth to send in. Don’t hold onto the Box
Tops—SEND THEM IN! Info. on the Breakfast with the Principal contest is
forthcoming.
- Milk caps are also ready to be sent in.
- If possible, please send Box Tops and pull tabs in separate containers
- Ink jet cartridges not sent in from last year are ready to send.
Fundraiser--Sherri Fansler
- Sales totaled around $20,000. 36 orders were received with the wrong payment or
no payment at all. Follow-up was necessary. Order forms were mailed in on
October 3rd.
- Delivery date is Tues., Nov. 13th , 2:30-5:30. If you can’t pick up your order
at that time, please call Sherri Fansler and make arrangements for another time!
Teacher Representatives--Mrs. Lipske and Ms. Snyder
- Thank you to the PTA for the laminating supplies.
Yearbook--Ms. Snyder
- The committee has been chosen. This year’s theme is “Travel” and will focus on
different countries.
- The yearbooks will go on sale at the end of October.
Principal Mrs. Ebbers Report
- There was 73% parental attendance at this year’s Open House.
- "Walk Your Child to School” day is scheduled for October 1st. There will be 2
starting points at which students and parents will meet and will then proceed to
school.
- A program is being planned to celebrate our School of Promise Award. Mr.
Carolan, Mrs. Grant, Mr. Heiden, and Mrs. Fansler went to Madison to accept this
award. Our celebration is planned for October 18th. In addition, a
Surprise “farewell” for Mr. Carolan is also in the works for that day. It will be
a Lincoln Spirit Day!
OLD BUSINESS
T-shirt Sale
- Lincolnwear T-shirts are available for purchase. A hand-out will go home. LOTS
of shirts were sold at Open House. Only so many of each size were purchased.
Open Committee Chairpersons Positions
- There are still opportunities for you to help the PTA help Lincoln and its
students. Several committee positions are still available. These can be run by
a single volunteer or a group. Contact a board member for more info.
- In addition, all executive board positions will be open at the end of this school
year. Please contact any current board member if you are interested in running
for office.
NEW BUSINESS
Sports Club Event
- Several volunteers are needed to help work at the upcoming Sports Club Event on
Oct. 19. Info. will be sent home.
- VIP bracelets will be given to those students who have sold enough items. The
bracelets will get them in free.
Teachers' Conference Dinners
- As in the past, the PTA will be providing dinner for the teachers on
parent/teacher conference nights this year. The conferences are scheduled for
Thurs., Nov. 15th and Mon., Nov. 19th. Volunteers will be asked to bring a
dish of some kind. More info. will be coming home.
Snacks for Testing Week
- Once again, the PTA will fund the purchase of healthy snacks for the upcoming
standardized testing days. This is to ensure that the students are well-fed and
in a good frame of mind to test. Dana Farber made calls to some local
merchants (i.e. Pick-n-Save, Layton Fruit Market…) to see about getting donations
as well.
RIF/Scholastic Book Fair
- The RIF dates for this year are TBA.
- A book fair is planned for Family Fun Night in April. $130 worth of vouchers
from last year’s fair must be used by the end of November 2007. They will be
used to purchase Guided Reading books.
Mrs. Lipske’s class won this month’s classroom attendance prize.
Dana Farber made a motion to adjourn. Mrs. Jachowicz seconded the motion.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:05pm.
